Delhi and Mumbai are two of India’s biggest cities, and there is always some kind of a rivalry between them. But the contest between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils has always been a one sided affair.

Mumbai Indians are the top performers of the Indian Premier League since its inception in 2007, while Delhi have been the perennial underdogs. This time though the contest should be a lot closer as Delhi has led by Zaheer Khan, a visionary captain and Rahul Dravid, a great coach.
Dravid and Zaheer have built a young team with many who could be the new stars of the next generation for the Indian team. Sanju Samson, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are exceptional players. Karun Nair is a good batsman too but he has been in a poor run of form lately.
Mumbai Indians have so far beaten Royal Challengers Bangalore by four wickets, Gujarat Lions by six wickets and Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets. They have only lost 1 match in the IPL and stand first in the points table.

Delhi Daredevils are fourth in the points table. They have so far beaten Kings XI Punjab by 51 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets and Sunrisers Hyderabad by 15 runs. Most of Mumbai’s wins have come while chasing. Their most spectacular win was the last one against Kings XI Punjab where they chased down a huge score of 198 in just 15 overs!
Ambati Rayudu has recovered from a groin injury but it is unlikely that he will be selected, given that young Nitish Rana has been in such tremendous form.
Rana has been the best young player of the IPL 2017 so far and looks like a great prospect for India. We should see him in Indian colours soon enough. Already, he is the highest scorer in IPL 2017. He has been so good that he has completely overshadowed his captain, Rohit Sharma.
